Senior West Virginia defensive lineman Jalen Thornton has announced on instagram that he has played his final game as a Mountaineer and appears to be done playing football at the collegiate level.
He had one year of eligibility remaining due to the COVID year, but is electing to move on to the next chapter of his life.
Thornton was used primarily on special teams and as a rotational lineman over his first four years in Morgantown. This past season, Thornton expanded his role on defense and tallied 14 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, and one fumble recovery. In the win over North Carolina in the Duke's Mayo Bowl, Thornton recorded four tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 1.5 tackles for loss.
