Jonah Winston, the younger brother of NFL quarterback Jameis Winston, is considering at least two prominent programs for his freshman season in 2026.
Jameis was the No. 1 quarterback in his recruiting class back in 2012. He went to Florida State and thrived on the gridiron, winning both the Heisman Trophy and ACC Player of the Year in 2013. Florida State won the national championship that season, defeating Auburn in a 34-31 thriller. The former No. 1 pick completed 20-of-35 passes in that game for 237 yards with two touchdowns.
While there's no guarantee Jonah will follow in his brother's footsteps and commit to Florida State, he'll definitely consider the Seminoles.
According to On3, Jonah Winston is planning visits to Florida State and Auburn. He wants to see both schools in the upcoming months. Back in October, he took a trip to Tallahassee to check in on the Seminoles. Obviously, he has ties to the program.
"The one thing that makes FSU more unique than the other schools is I basically grew up at FSU," Jonah said. "That’s where the game really started for me."
Jonah started his football career as a quarterback before switching over to wide receiver. During the 2023 season, he had 11 touchdowns for Hoover. This past season, meanwhile, he had 542 receiving yards and 152 rushing yards.
According to 247Sports, Jonah is the No. 43 wide receiver and No. 13 recruit from Alabama in his class.
Auburn and Florida State aren't the only contenders for Winston. Fans should also keep a close eye on Ole Miss and UCF.
Winston still has plenty of time to figure out which school offers him the best chance to succeed. As of now though, it sounds like Florida State is the favorite for his services.
