Five-star quarterback Jared Curtis officially committed to the Georgia Bulldogs on Monday, and he’s already shown just how devoted he is to the program.
After revealing that he’s helping Kirby Smart with recruiting, specifically trying to land five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell, details of his NIL deal have emerged, making him even more likable.
According to Brooks Austin, director of recruiting for the On SI network, Curtis chose to take less money with Georgia than he was offered by the Oregon Ducks.
“He took a pay cut coming to Georgia compared to what he was going to get at Oregon,” Austin said. “I don’t know the number there, but I’ve been told it’s considerably higher, noticeably higher was the wordage, I believe.”
According to Austin, Curtis is set to earn between $600,000 and $800,000 as a freshman in 2026, with his earnings rising to between $1.2 million and $1.4 million in his second year with the program in 2027.
“All of Georgia’s NIL contracts going forward, by the way, are back-loaded and not front-loaded,” Austin noted.
Georgia and Curtis will then renegotiate ahead of Year 3, and his earnings will come down to how well he performs during his first two seasons.
Curtis, 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, originally committed to Georgia last year but decided to explore other options last October before getting reeled back in. He is currently ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect in On3’s 2026 class, the top quarterback in the country, and the No. 1 QB in Tennessee.
During his junior year, Curtis led his Nashville high school team to a 13-1 record and a state championship. He completed 70% of his passes for 2,830 yards, throwing 40 touchdowns with just three interceptions. He added 637 yards and 18 more scores on the ground. His performance earned him the 2024 Gatorade Tennessee Football Player of the Year award.
