Auburn running back Jarquez Hunter continues his rise as a top-20 rusher in Auburn history.

In the Iron Bowl loss to Alabama, Hunter rushed for 93 yards to bring his career rushing total to 2,128 yards, making him 18th all-time in Auburn rushing history.

Hunter passed Lionel James on the all-time rushing list. He will have the chance to pass Kenny Irons (2,186) if Hunter plays in the bowl game.

Hunter and fellow running back Damari Alston ran the ball well against Alabama. According to Auburn, for the first time in records back through 1996, Auburn has had two rushes of 40+ yards versus Alabama. Alston’s 56-yard run in the second quarter was a career-long.

Other notes

Payton Thorne is now 10th in single-season rushing yardage among all-time Auburn quarterbacks with 521 yards. He will have the chance to pass Phil Gargis' 534 rushing yards in the bowl game.

Ja'Varrius Johnson was the first Auburn player with a rushing and receiving touchdown in the Iron Bowl since Ben Obomanu did it in the 2005 Iron Bowl. Johnson is 27th all-time in Auburn receiving yards with 1,156 yards. He will look to pass Clifton Robinson's 1,167 yards if he plays in the bowl game.

Auburn kicker Alex McPherson is 39-39 on PAT kicks this season and 48-48 for his career. He's also made 19 straight field goals, extending his own school record.
