Jeremiah Smith had an exceptional freshman season at Ohio State, winning a national title while racking up over 1,300 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. With the offseason here, teams are willing to tamper just for a chance at landing him in the transfer portal.
According to On3, at least one team is willing to give Smith a $4.5 million NIL package if he transfers. It's unclear which program extended such a lucrative offer, but most fans are convinced it's Miami. Of course, it's not just one team trying to get a crack at the 6-foot-3 wide receiver. If every team was on the same playing field from a financial standpoint, he'd receive dozens of offers.
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day addressed all the chaos that comes with NIL. While he wants to get Smith paid, he's hoping college football adds new guidelines.
"You have to value them, do everything you can to get what they deserve and what's fair," Day said. "As coaches we're all looking for more guidelines on this, everything is so gray right now.
So, will the Buckeyes lose Smith this offseason? Judging by his latest tweet, the answer is no.
Smith shared a tweet from Jay Wimbrow that states, "Ain’t gonna happen, that family is too loyal good try tho." The Ohio State star reposted this message along with the 100 emoji.
Wimbrow was associated with Smith’s former 7-on-7 team, so this isn't some random person addressing the NIL rumors.

Could a team make an offer that Smith can't refuse? Sure, in theory, that could happen. At the end of the day though, Smith seems committed to Ohio State.
After all, Smith said this week that he wants to win more championships before his college career is over.
"Feeling good, feeling good," Smith said after the national title game win over Notre Dame. "Got that first one. Time to get three more... two more."
Take a deep breath, Ohio State fans. It doesn't sound like Smith is going anywhere.
