Many young people aren't fully aware of how iconic and game-changing Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders was early in his NFL career. To them, he's just an outspoken leader of the Buffaloes, or they may have only seen highlights of his playing days.

It's easy to forget that the Atlanta Falcons drafted the 57-year-old in the first round of the 1989 NFL Draft, instantly impacting the field across two professional sports.

Sanders already had some notoriety upon becoming a pro because he played football, baseball and ran track for the Florida State Seminoles.

On Friday, to celebrate Sanders' early success, Nike released the Air DT Proto '92 sneakers in an iconic Falcons colorway of white and black with red and gold accents.

However, due to heavy demand, the shoes sold out in a matter of minutes, leaving many shocked and disappointed.

Unfortunately, even big-time NFL players with a direct connection to Sanders missed out on grabbing a pair, as evidenced by Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr., who was added to the team via the sixth round of the NFL draft last month.

"Ian even get a chance to get mines," said the 5-foot-10, 170-pound receiver via his Instagram account, j5fleezy.

The 22-year-old collected 162 receptions for 1,967 yards and 11 touchdowns over four collegiate seasons split between Colorado and South Florida. Horn transferred to the Buffaloes in 2023.

Sanders' Instagram post shows him posed deep in a two-point stance, as if he were lined up against an opposing wide receiver.

In 1992, Sanders collected three interceptions; in his five seasons with the Falcons, he had 24. That year, he was in his second season with the Atlanta Braves. He led the MLB with 14 triples, stole 26 bases and had a .304 average.

Horn and the Panthers will begin the 2025 regular season on Sunday, September 7, on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
