JJ Weaver will lead the Wildcats in sacks for the third straight season
USA TODAY Sports

JJ Weaver has led the Kentucky Wildcats in sacks for two straight seasons, and I believe he will take this crown once again.

Weaver had three sacks a season ago and a whopping six and a half sacks in 2021.

The Wildcats only had 20 sacks as a team last season, and I expect to see that number jump in 2023.

Weaver is a player that has a bright NFL career ahead of him, so putting up six or more sacks this season would be huge for his draft capital.

Getting after the quarterback makes it harder on opposing quarterbacks, so Weaver and the rest of the defense need to get pressure on opposing signal-callers all season long.

Weaver represented Kentucky well at SEC Media Days, and I expect him to put up some massive numbers for the Wildcats this season.

The Wildcats created 16 turnovers last season, and if Weaver and company can create pressure, this number will increase in 2023.

Turnovers lead to offensive production, so the Kentucky defense needs a bunch of them this season.
