Joe Burrow on if LSU could beat the Bengals: ‘No comment’

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow is coming off an historic senior season that saw him throw for a record 60 touchdowns and combine for another record of 65 total touchdowns from the quarterback position.

Burrow’s amateur career culminated in a spectacular performance Monday night, leading his Tigers to the national championship over Clemson.

The consensus No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is likely heading to the downtrodden Cincinnati Bengals.

In comparing his soon-to-be new team to the college squad he suited up for, Burrow would not comment on whether LSU could beat the Bengals.

That’s all sorts of sad right there. We’ve seen bad NFL teams compared to the likes of Alabama in the past. For the most part, it’s absurd to believe a college team could beat any professional team.

But there’s an argument to be made here. LSU averaged nearly 50 points per game in going 15-0 this season. The Tigers did so primarily going up against elite SEC competition.

We’re talking about a team that likely boasted as many as two dozen future NFL players.

As for the Bengals, they were outscored by an average of nine points per game during a 2-14 season.

Let the debate begin.
