Joel Klatt Reveals 2 NFL Teams Deion Sanders Would Have ‘Hard Time’ Saying No To

Despite Deion Sanders’ best efforts to convince everyone he’s staying put at Colorado, several analysts believe there’s still a remote chance he ends up taking an NFL head-coaching job this offseason.

Sanders has spent the last several weeks telling reporters that he enjoys his job in Boulder and has no intention of leaving for the pros, but some believe if an NFL team drafts his son Shedeur in the 2025 NFL Draft and offers Sanders its head-coaching job, he’d at least considering taking it.

Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt was someone who believed there was zero chance of Sanders leaving the college ranks. He declared last year that Sanders even told him so, but now he seems to be changing his tune.

During a recent appearance on FS1’s “The Herd,” Klatt believes there two teams that could lure Sanders away from Colorado.

“I think it would be really hard for him to turn down the New York Giants or the Dallas Cowboys, those brands,” Klatt said. “Now here’s what I will say, though, is that, and I’ve made this this, it’s not really an argument. I’ve made this point before and I think that it remains truer today than ever, which is as much as Colorado was desperate for Deion Sanders. Deion Sanders needs a place like Colorado.”

Part of why Sanders isn’t looking to leave the college game is because he prefers the mentor role that comes with being a college coach over being the manager/boss role that comes with being an NFL head coach.

Additionally, Sanders has been carte blanche to run the Buffaloes program how he sees fit, and if he were to take an NFL job, he would be somewhat restricted in how he conducts himself and the liberties he can take with the media.

“Colorado turned over the keys, Deion could be totally himself and turned Colorado into Prime,” Klatt added. “He had the keys to the castle. Traditions were out the window. You can do whatever you want. He had clauses contractually where he could keep his merchandise and wear the sunglasses and do all of the things that make Deion, Deion, and allow him to mentor young men at the college level, which I know he feels like is his calling. Go to the NFL and see if you get all those.”

Both the Cowboys and Giants are tracking to have top-10 picks in the 2025 draft, and drafting Shedeur is a possibility for both, although it’s less likely for Dallas, which signed Dak Prescott to a four-year, $240 million extension this offseason.

Conversely, Dallas and New York both have head coaches, but Mike McCarthy isn’t expected to be back next year and Brian Daboll could very well be fired once the season ends.
