EasySportz has boots on the ground at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the Aflac Kickoff Game between Tennessee and Syracuse, bringing you up to the minute coverage of the Volunteers and the Orange.
Since this is a halftime preview and we had to start from scratch a half dozen times, shed a few tears to Lee Corso and witness an Ohio State goal-line stand on an iPad, bear with us here.
Let’s just get to the point here quickly.
Josh Heupel saved Tennessee football and deserves every penny of that contract extension. This Joey Aguilar guy is pretty good, huh?
Oh and how about that Volunteer defense?
Georgia comes calling in Week 3 up on Rocky Top. Could this finally be the year Heupel’s Vols can hang around with the Dawgs?

Well, they’re going to be 2-0 and get Georgia early, before falling out of playoff contention (2021, 2023). If there were ever a time…
Now, road trips to Tuscaloosa and Gainesville still loom large, but if Tennessee can find a way to pull off a win in Week 3, it’s truly full steam ahead.
Josh Heupel and the Vols heard the disrespect all offseason and quietly went to work and made their case on the field Saturday in Atlanta.
It’s 31-14 entering the locker room and it feels like a high school team playing a JV squad.
on the money.

A roller coaster see-saw style game saw Tennessee gash the Orange on the ground and through the air, propelled by a nasty defensive front.
Tennessee may have let up a couple chunk plays to Syracuse, but it has made a statement here at the Benz in Atlanta.
The Vols are a College Football Playoff contender once again this season and losing Nico may not have been the worst thing after all?
Now, Syracuse could really be just that bad after losing damn near half their roster. However, Tennessee played a phenomenal half of football.
I am circling Tennessee as my team to watch the rest of the year. Now before you jump to conclusions, just note I am not a Tennessee “fan” per say. However, I was quite impressed.
I had Tennessee ranked 24th to begin the season and this is my official apology submission to Coach Heupel. Tennessee is a Top 15 team.
336 to 142 yards in the first half. An ass whooping in Atlanta.
Now, back to the game. If Tennessee pulls an Atlanta Falcons, well, you can blame me!
What a half though!
