Kalen DeBoer details status of Jalen Hale early in fall camp
Gary Cosby Jr.-Tuscaloosa News / USA TODAY NETWORK

Jalen Hale is continuing his journey on the road to once again earn meaningful snaps.

Hale played in 13 games as a true freshman in 2023. He finished the year with five receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown. The former four-star was expected to be more impactful in year two before he suffered a lower-body injury, which sidelined him for the entirety of the 2024 season. He made strides at returning to the gridiron during ReliaQuest Bowl prep.

The Texas product took another step forward during the spring when he was able to return to action.

After completing the spring, DeBoer is eager to see Hale continue to grow in Alabama’s offensive system.

“Between he and then our medical staff, just doing an awesome job of pushing forward,” DeBoer said. “Our whole team is proud of him, not just me. We’ve talked about that in the winter during December. I remember addressing it with the team, guys being excited about having him out there, finally doing something with the team. And then the spring was the next step through the summer and him out there. But there’s reps that he hasn’t taken that other guys have. He’s still learning as we go and every rep he’s going to get more and more confident, but he’s certainly got a lot of tools and want to see his growth.”

Alabama’s wide receiver rotation has an opportunity to be deep in the upcoming season, and Hale could be one of their top options.
