Alabama football’s head coach Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide are dealing with a rash of injuries at tight end this spring.

The Crimson Tide are now down three tight ends after DeBoer officially ruled out Josh Cuevas and Marshall Pritchett for the remainder of the spring on Friday.

“Right now, we’re battling through a couple of injuries at one position in particular, tight end,” DeBoer said. “I know in a week you’re going to see these guys or not see these guys out there, so just kind of reporting, Josh Cuevas, he’ll be good for the fall but, he’ll be done for the rest of this spring, and Marshall Pritchett. So, the tight end position went from kind of lean at one point with not all the guys already here at that position. Kaleb Edwards isn’t here yet with Danny Lewis not practicing this spring, thin there so offense and defense kind of working together to get the looks we want, try to make the most of some substitutions there.”

This could open the door for Jay Lindsey to get more snaps this spring. Cuevas discussed Lindsey during a recent media availability.

“Jay’s my brother,” Cuevas said. “I love Jay. We’re kind of sticking together on this one, just kind of developing each other. He’s coming off. I’m coming off the field, and we’re kind of asking each other, ‘hey, did you see my last rep?’ Just kind of building off of one another and just kind of working to get ourselves better with the offense. He’s developing great.”

The tight end position will be one to watch during the A-Day practice.
