Kalen DeBoer tells why Alabama could not run ball vs. Wisconsin

Kalen DeBoer knows the Crimson Tide’s run game is an area that needs to show improvement moving forward despite Alabama football advancing to 2-1 following their 38-14 victory over Wisconsin inside of Saban-Field at Bryant Denny Stadium.

The Crimson Tide only rushed for 72 total yards of offense on 22 carries in the win, led by quarterback Ty Simpson, who was responsible for 25 of those rushing yards. Meanwhile, Alabama tailbacks carried the rock 20 times for a grand total of 45 yards and no scores against Wisconsin’s defense. This output was the lowest rushing total for Alabama in a victory when scoring 38 plus points since 2019.

That is why the second-year Tide head coach made this particular department an area of emphasis as Alabama looks for improvement ahead of its bye week.

“Yeah, I think there’s certainly an area where we can improve in the run game, we have too,” DeBoer said. “It’s execution, that’s where it starts. The ability to be physical exists. We’ve gotta continue to work on it. I know the guys wanna do it but that’s definitely an area where I can continue to see us emphasize, watch the film exactly and see what was the execution, where we’re not technically sound in executing our jobs.”

Alabama football now adds revitalizing their rushing attack on top of their list of chores over the bye week, ahead of entering SEC play.
