Kalen DeBoer updates Alabama OL Parker Brailsford heading into A-Day matchup
Gary Cosby Jr.-Tuscaloosa News / USA TODAY NETWORK

The University of Alabama football team will be without an offensive lineman for A-Day.

Parker Brailsford, a transfer from Washington, will not participate in Saturday’s practice. He remains with the team, but Kalen DeBoer has mentioned to reporters that the sophomore has been battling non-football related issues. Brailsford, who helped the Huskies’ offensive unit to the Joe Moore Award in 2023, comes off a year in Washington where he won a Pac-12 Championship.

He’s been embraced by his Alabama teammates, but DeBoer said Friday that Brailsford will not play in the exhibition.

“Right now, I would not plan on him being in just with the limited practice he’s had throughout the spring,” DeBoer said about Brailsford.

“He did not practice today, so I would not be putting him out there in that spot. He will be with us here sooner than later. He is doing all the things to make sure he is ready to go.”

Brailsford came to Alabama after Seth McLaughlin made the decision to transfer. Crimson Tide fans felt he would be answer at center following the snapping issues McLaughlin had last season. James Brockermeyer, a four-year player, has stepped up and won the job at center. Brailsford is the backup for now, but having him gives the Tide experienced depth at the position.
