Kenyan Drake Signs with Baltimore Ravens Practice Squad

Former Alabama Crimson Tide running back Kenyan Drake has finally found a familiar home for the 2023 season, the Baltimore Ravens. He spent the 2022 season with the NFL team, tallying 482 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns over 12 games.

During his time at Alabama, Drake accumulated 1,495 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns, 570 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns, and one kickoff return touchdown. He declared for the 2016 NFL Draft, and was the 73rd-overall selection by the Miami Dolphins. 

Drake spent three full seasons, and part of  a fourth, in Miami  before he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. He spent 2021 with the Las Vegas Raiders, before heading to Baltimore in 2022. 

Overall, Drake has 3,866 rushing yards, 33 rushing touchdowns, 1,624 receiving yards, eight receiving touchdowns, and one kickoff return touchdown. 

The Ravens only have two healthy running backs on their roster: Justice Hill, and Gus Edwards, plus Melvin Gordon III, who was activated from the practice squad for last week's game against the Bengals. Although Gordon was a 1,000-yard rusher in 2017 with the Los Angeles Chargers, he had a career-low 318 yards on 90 carries in 10 games last season with the Broncos.

Although the 29-year-old Drake is a veteran, he's a candidate for a practice squad call-ups, meaning he can play in three games before being signed to the 53-man roster. 

The Ravens are shorthanded at the position after another season-ending injury to starting running back JK Dobbins. It's his third in as many years. He suffered a torn ACL on the final preseason game of 2021, another knee injury in October 2022, and recently suffered a torn Achilles,
