Key Tennessee Vols player officially announces return for 2024
Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The good news just keeps coming for Tennessee Vols fans.

Just a few days after the Vols received a commitment from 2025 five-star quarterback George MacIntyre, offensive lineman Javontez Spraggins announced that he's officially returning for his super senior season in 2024.

Spraggins is a former three-star recruit from East Saint Louis, IL who signed with the Vols during the 2020 recruiting cycle.

The veteran offensive lineman started 11 games at right guard for Tennessee in 2023 before suffering a season-ending injury that kept him out of the Vols' final two games (against Vanderbilt and Iowa).

Spraggins has started 36 total games at right guard during the Josh Heupel era at Tennessee. And he'll hold down the right guard spot again in 2024.

The return of Spraggins gives the Vols an offensive line that's expected to feature Cooper Mays at center, John Campbell at right tackle, and LSU transfer Lance Heard at left tackle. That means the only position that's up grabs is left guard, which is expected to be a battle between Andrej Karic, Jackson Lampley, and Vysen Lang.
