Kirby Smart isn’t one to stir the pot without purpose.
However, while speaking at SEC spring meetings in Destin, Florida, the Georgia head coach didn’t hide his frustration with how the College Football Playoff field was chosen—and he made sure his message landed.
The topic? Respect for the SEC—or the lack of it—when it comes to postseason football.

And while Smart didn’t name names beyond those three, the message was pretty clear.

Additionally, when he raised concerns about the transfer portal’s impact on postseason rosters, he says he was met with a dismissive response.
“No crying from the yacht.”
As the SEC continues to reshape the landscape of college football, Smart’s comments are likely to echo throughout the offseason.
Whether the playoff committee listens next time around remains to be seen—but down in Destin, the message couldn’t have been clearer.
