What does it take to earn a consensus No. 1 overall ranking if you're the Ohio State Buckeyes? Apparently, even having an alumnus working for ESPN does Ryan Day and his Buckeyes no favors. While Kirk Herbstreit shouldn't shill for Ohio State, he's seemingly antagonized the program over recent years.
On Monday, Herbstreit dropped his own personal top five rankings as college football enters Week 4. While the Buckeyes are 3-0, boast one of the most efficient and explosive passing games in the nation, the 29th-best scoring offense and second-best scoring defense, and have a win against Texas, they weren't the No. 1 team on his list.
See where Ohio State ranks on Herbstreit's list of top teams after the Buckeyes beat Ohio.
Not only did Ohio State not rank No. 1, but the Penn State Nittany Lions and LSU Tigers somehow jumped them in Herbstreit's rankings. Penn State has three unimpressive wins so far, and LSU's offense has been sandbagging arguably the nation's most improved defense.

While it's fair to say Ohio State might've gotten sloppy against Ohio, played an overrated Texas team, and beat up on Grambling State, it's not as if their peers have flawless resumes. LSU beat Florida by 10 points despite intercepting five passes and barely escaped Clemson.
Herbstreit hasn't devolved into being a full-on Buckeyes troll, but the frustration continues to mount as he seems to hold the program to a higher standard than others.
