ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit has always been vocal in his support for his son, Chase, who just completed his senior season of high school football at St. Xavier in Cincinnati, Ohio.

On Sunday, Chase Herbstreit made his college football commitment official, and in an interesting twist, unlike his father—who played quarterback for Ohio State from 1989-1992—Chase will be heading to Ann Arbor, Michigan to play for the University of Michigan.

Chase will join Michigan’s freshman class alongside the top quarterback in the Class of 2025, Bryce Underwood, but it could be an ideal place for Chase to continue his development as a quarterback. Herbstreit, one of the standout quarterbacks in the Class of 2025 in the Cincinnati area, now has the opportunity to grow his game at one of college football's top programs.

Following his son’s commitment on Sunday, Kirk Herbstreit released a heartfelt statement, proudly supporting Chase’s decision to continue both his academic and athletic career at Michigan.

"So proud of you Chase! Congratulations on this incredible opportunity. Look forward to watching you continue to grow and develop at Michigan. Keep grinding!!" Herbstreit posted.

While it's quite the story with the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry being what it is and his father having Ohio and Ohio State roots, it's an awesome moment for Chase Herbstreit who will have a prime opportunity to learn at one of the best football programs in the entire country and also get to play alongside Bryce Underwood, who is viewed as a generational freshman talent that flipped to Michigan after originally being committed to LSU a few weeks ago.

Nonetheless, a cool father-son moment as Kirk has been posting all about Chase's playoff run with St. Xavier this season before losing to Moeller High School in a rivalry playoff game back on November 22nd.
