Kirk Herbstreit has become one of the most famous names in college football media. The ESPN talent remains a highly respected voice among college football analysts and broadcasters, although that doesn’t prevent him from starring in controversy now and then.

After a successful 2025 college football season, Herbstreit prepares to continue working on College GameDay, one of ESPN’s top shows, which has broken viewership records in the past two seasons.

As great as he’s been for the worldwide leader, Herbstreit received bad news about another gig. He was removed from an announcing team.

The official cover of College Football 27 dropped on Tuesday. The latest installment of the video game will be released in mid-July. According to On3, Kirk Herbstreit won’t appear in the 2027 edition of the video game.

He appeared in the last two editions as part of the “Big Game” broadcast with Chris Fowler.

On the other hand, USC quarterback Jayden Maiava, Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore and Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti will grace the deluxe edition of the cover.
