Michigan lost an offensive lineman to the transfer portal on Thursday.
According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, Michigan freshman offensive tackle Ty Haywood is entering the transfer portal.
Haywood was a four-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting class and the No. 10 recruit in Texas, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He was also the sixth-best offensive tackle recruit in the nation and the No. 39 overall recruit.
Haywood will have multiple seasons of eligibility left for whatever school he commits to.
Michigan will have to replace him via the transfer portal under new head coach Kyle Whittingham, who took over for Sherrone Moore.
Whittingham is in charge of a program that finished the 2025 season with a 9-4 record after losing to Texas in the Citrus Bowl. Michigan won nine of its first 11 games before losing two in a row to end the year.
The Wolverines are hoping that Whittingham can get them back to winning Big Ten and national titles. Whittingham was the head coach of the Utah Utes for 21 full seasons, compiling a 177-88 overall record. His best season came in 2008 when he led the Utes to a perfect 13-0 record.
The Utes finished the 2025 season with an 11-2 record, with their only losses coming against the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the BYU Cougars.
The transfer portal opened last Friday and will remain open until Jan. 16. It will be the only transfer portal window of the year.
