As the find day of the 2025 college football regular season approaches, many will be paying attention to Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin.

His team is No. 7 in the College Football Playoff rankings and almost certainly guaranteed the first playoff berth in program history.

"This isn’t a report that Kiffin is leaving," Florio wrote. "We’ll leave that one to whoever gets the spoon-fed scoop. But it’s true that, as of Friday night, Kiffin is putting the pieces in place in the event he makes the leap to LSU."

If Kiffin were to leave Ole Miss, his contract situation could become complicated. His contract with the university runs through Dec. 31, 2030. According to USA Today, he has an annual salary of $9 million and can earn up to $2.6 million in bonuses during the 2025 season. If he chooses to leave Ole Miss, he must pay the university $4 million if he departs before the end of this season, or $3 million if he leaves afterward.

With Kiffin expected to announce his plans on Saturday, the final hours before the regular season ends may redefine both Ole Miss and LSU's futures. Whether he doubles down on Oxford’s historic run or jump-starts a new era in Baton Rouge, the college football landscape is bracing for one of its most consequential decisions.
