Lane Kiffin continues to let Kirby Smart have it, even when there isn’t really any advantage in doing so.
The Ole Miss head coach trolled his Georgia counterpart late in the first half of Saturday’s game at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. Kiffin could be seen calling a timeout, then jokingly telling the official that he was “just clapping.”

Last week against Auburn, video circulated showing Smart seemingly trying to get out of a timeout call by arguing he was just clapping. Kiffin was imitating that here.

Kiffin and Smart are on good terms and worked together at Alabama. Kiffin even got in a jab at Smart earlier this week during the build-up to the game. Smart would not have even been aware that this exchange was happening, but there was no way Kiffin was going to let it pass.
Kiffin might not have a lot of room to joke. Given some of the things he’s gotten up to in the past, Smart’s excuse sounds like one he might try to get away with in the same situation.
