Latest BetMGM betting update could be of major interest to Notre Dame fans heading into the 2024 season
Maria Lysaker-USA TODAY Sports

Notre Dame football is set to open up fall camp next Wednesday, with the 2024 season just a little over a month away. Not much is happening other than the fans' anticipation, and player preparation behind the scenes. While everyone is left sitting back and wondering, the odds makers are busy reassessing and moving betting lines.

When it comes to the Irish and their upcoming season, there was some movement over at BetMGM that raised some serious intrigue, and is worth noting. Two teams on the schedule saw their season win totals change, including Texas A&M going from 7.5 to 8.5 projected wins, as well as Louisville seeing their total decrease from 8.5 to 8 projected victories.

The movement with Texas A&M is the most interesting thing to evaluate if you’re a Notre Dame fan. With the Irish playing the first game of the season against the Aggies at Kyle Field, the win total increase isn’t the most settling information. Obviously, this is a full season win total so that doesn’t necessarily point to one particular game, but still seeing the oddsmakers becoming more bullish on the Aggies isn’t the most reassuring movement.

It could simply be that the sportsbook is buying into program improvements throughout the season under Mike Elko. Monitoring the line movement from that first game with Notre Dame will be very interesting to watch as we get closer to the season.

When regarding the Louisville win total decrease, it wasn’t overly surprising. The Cardinals overachieved in year one under head coach Jeff Brohm, but there still should be questions of sustainability after just the first year. Louisville taking a slight step back from their 10-win season in 2023 is Kyle than reasonable.

The other interesting note from BetMGM is that the popular bet seems to be under on the Georgia Tech season win total of five games. That could be a surprise to some after a 7-win season in year one under head coach Brent Key, as well as a lot of production coming back this season. That’s probably more of a result of having to play Notre Dame, Georgia, Miami, Florida State, and Louisville in the same season.

Full schedule win totals

Here are the full season win totals according to BetMGM, for the Power Four conference teams anyway. Notre Dame still sits at 10.5 victories, which is what they opened with on their sportsbook.

Texas A&M - 8.5 wins

Purdue - 4.5 wins

Louisville - 8 wins

Stanford - 3.5 wins

Georgia Tech - 5 wins

Florida State - 9.5 wins

Virginia - 4.5 wins

USC - 7.5 wins
