Latest mock draft has new No. 1 wide receiver

Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is viewed by most of the experts as the top non-quarterback prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft. However, CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson believes there could be a new No. 1 wide receiver come April 25.

In Wilson's latest mock draft, he has the first non-quarterback going at pick No. 4 to the Cardinals. With that selection, Arizona drafts LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers.

"I've had Malik Nabers and Marvin Harrison Jr. closely graded throughout the draft process, but after Nabers' impressive pro-day numbers, I'm giving him the slightest of edges here," Wilson writes. "Both receivers are special."

Nabers did have an excellent pro day at which he reportedly ran a 4.35-second 40-yard dash, jumped 42 inches in the vertical and did 15 reps of 225 on the bench press.

His production on the field has been just as good too as he posted 89 receptions for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2023.

Wilson isn't the only one who thinks Nabers being the first non-quarterback off the board could happen.

"I wouldn't be shocked if Nabers ended up being the (first) WR off the board," NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah posted on platform X. "I love MHJ and Odunze but Nabers brings a different element. It'll come down to preference of style but I guarantee some teams will have Nabers at the top of the list."

Still, it's difficult to argue he should go over Harrison Jr., who's had 144 catches for 2,474 yards and 28 touchdowns over the past two seasons.

If that is how things play out, however, Harrison Jr. shouldn't have to wait too long. Wilson has the Giants selecting him at pick No. 6.

"Best-case scenario for the Giants, who stand pat and have Marvin Harrison Jr. fall in their laps," Wilson writes.

It's still up for debate how the first round will play out, but the fact is, this draft is rich with wide receiver talent and several teams will have the opportunity to land their future No. 1 wide receivers.
