Former Florida Gators/South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier was hoping to meet actor Matthew McConaughey in Austin this past weekend, but he had to settle for meeting Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning instead.

Spurrier attended Florida's matchup against Texas on Saturday (the Longhorns won 49-17) and he was hoping to grab a photo with McConaughey before the game.

McConaughey, who graduated from Texas, is often seen on the Longhorns' sideline at football games.

Spurrier said during an appearance on Another Dooley Noted Podcast that he didn't run across McConaughey at the game, but he met Manning before the game kicked off.

"I did not get a picture with Matthew McConaughey," said Spurrier. "He comes right before the game and I wasn't going to stay down there (on the sideline) for a couple of hours. So I went up to the athletic director's box. And then at the end of the game I was down there, but he had already left. But I met the [Texas] athletic director briefly. And I met Arch Manning. In fact, I talked to his dad (Cooper Manning) a couple of days earlier and he said to be sure to go by and say hello to Arch. So we were walking across the field and he was over there with a bunch of fans."

Spurrier didn't reveal what he said to Manning, but I'm sure there are plenty of Florida fans who are hoping that he put a bug in the young quarterback's ear about what a delight it is to play in Gainesville.

Of course, even if Spurrier did say something about transferring to Florida, there's absolutely no chance that Manning is leaving Texas. He's locked in with the Longhorns thanks in part to his strong relationship with head coach Steve Sarkisian
