The 2025 NFL Draft started off hot for the Texas Longhorns.

Texas left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. kicked it off when he was selected by the New Orleans Saints with the No. 9 overall pick. Defensive back Jahdae Barron landed with the Denver Broncos at No. 20 and wide receiver Matthew Golden was taken off the board at No. 23 to the Green Bay Packers.

The Longhorns are on the way to breaking a program-record of more than 11 players selected within a seven-round draft. Texas had 14 players invited to the NFL Combine a couple months ago and each is expected to be drafted.

Golden's selection is the one that caught the attention of many on Thursday evening. For starters, Golden was in attendance in the green room while the first round took place. Secondly, his stylish suit stole the show. Finally, the fastest wide receiver in this draft class was selected by the host city.

On Friday, Golden arrived at Lambeau Field and it's clear he's notably excited to begin his professional career.

Golden was Quinn Ewers' favorite target during many of Texas' biggest moments last season. One of the top plays of the 2024 college football season took place in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal between Texas and Arizona State. Ewers found Golden on a do-or-die 4th-and-13 to keep the game alive.

After transferring from the University of Houston, Golden spent one season in Austin and recorded 58 receptions for 987 yards and nine touchdowns. He averaged 17 yards per reception.

At the NFL Combine a couple months ago, Golden ran the 40-yard dash in 4.29 seconds, which was the fastest time among all wide receivers and the second-fastest overall.

The Packers got a steal with Golden at No. 23.
