The LSU Tigers are looking forward to a new season with head coach Lane Kiffin running the show after finishing 7-6 last season. But management isn't the only thing changing for the program. A small change is also coming to the iconic purple-and-gold jerseys.

Division I leaders approved a measure allowing schools to place up to two advertising patches, each no larger than four square inches, on regular-season uniforms starting Aug. 1.

Going by that, LSU announced that it is partnering with Woodside Energy and jerseys will now include a small patch endorsing them. The company is the largest independent Australian corporation handling oil and natural gas production.

Woodside's present project is a $17.5 billion liquefied natural gas facility in Louisiana, which became the premise of this deal.

"This partnership with Woodside Energy represents a transformational moment for LSU athletics and speaks to the trajectory of college sports," said Clay Harris, LSU's deputy director of athletics.

“LSU continues to set the standard and remains at the forefront of this new era of collegiate athletics, and we are excited to align athletic excellence with community impact through this historic collaboration,” LSU athletic director Verge Ausberry added.

The red logo of the company will be displayed in purple and gold to match the aesthetics of the program. Previously, the jerseys sported Nike, SEC and the Stars and Stripes.

NCAA's move could generate significant revenue as athletic departments seek funds to share up to $20.5 million annually with players under new rules. Rules will be put in place to safeguard the association's sponsors, however.

Research indicates football and basketball programs could earn $500,000 to $12 million from patches, following other pro leagues that already permit uniform advertising.
