LSU football is dealing with the tragic and sudden death of former wide receiver Kyren Lacy.

Lacy, 24, was found dead in Houston on Saturday night, according to multiple reports. The Thibodaux, Louisiana native spent the last three seasons at LSU after beginning his college career at Louisiana Lafayette. Lacy, who was a prospect in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, reportedly died by suicide, according to WBRZ.

With the details of Lacy's death still being sorted out, LSU released a statement on the matter Sunday afternoon.

"The LSU Football family mourns the loss of Kyren Lacy," the statement reads.

Lacy's death comes as a grand jury was scheduled to begin hearing evidence on his negligent homicide case on Monday. In January, Lacy turned himself in to authorities after being accused of causing a crash that killed 78-year-old Herman Hall last December.

Lacy was charged with hit-and-run driving with serious injury or death, reckless operation with accident, and negligent homicide.

Louisiana State Police said Lacy was behind the wheel of a Dodge Charger on the night of Dec. 17, accusing him of "recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated no-passing zone."

"As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge," the LSP said in a news release.

"Traveling behind the pickup was a 2017 Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the oncoming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento."

Following the crash, authorities say Lacy drove around the accident scene and "without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash."

Lacy's lawyer released a statement in February saying that the deadline accident "was not caused by Mr. Lacy’s actions."
