LSU lands major 2026 offensive lineman commit

Brysten Martinez is a four-star offensive tackle from Gonzales, Louisiana, so it makes sense that LSU would be his choice of college.

It's tough when you're an elite recruit with a ton of options, though, so even though the Tigers received his commitment on Thursday, it's not like it was a lock. Heck, in today's transfer portal and NIL-obsessed college football environment, it's not even a lock after the National Letter of Intent is signed.

Still, this is a big in-state commitment for LSU. Martinez is ranked as the No. 5 recruit from the state, the No. 6 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 53-ranked recruit overall, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

"LSU was a school I always wanted to have an opportunity to play for," Gray recently told 247Sports. "When I got up there in camp over the summer, it exceeded all of my expectations."

As a nearby in-state recruit, Martinez has been one of LSU's top offensive targets for a while now, so Brian Kelly and offensive line coach Brad Davis have to be thrilled with his commitment.

There's also the competition to consider, which also makes this a big recruiting win for Kelly and his staff. Martinez boasts some major offers. That's a list that includes Georgia, Oregon, Alabama, Florida State, Florida, Penn State and Texas, among others.
