The Lane Kiffin fiasco forever cemented LSU/Ole Miss as a heated rivalry. But this rivalry has continued to intensify since Kiffin’s hiring. Extra gas was thrown into the fire this morning when top LSU transfer offensive lineman Carius Carne committed to Ole Miss.
Carne’s situation first became interesting on Saturday, when he accused LSU of some portal shenanigans.
As soon as he officially entered the portal, Ole Miss quickly made him a priority, and he sealed the deal this morning after visiting Oxford on Monday. This is both a notable loss for the Tigers and a big addition for the Rebels as Curne started five games during his 2025 true freshman season.
This rivalry will only gain more traction the longer Ole Miss remains in the playoffs. While Kiffin can say that he is happy for the program, it also makes his decision to leave look worse and gives Ole Miss additional ammunition to mock his departure.
This is the definition of a college football soap opera.
