High school QB Colin Hurley from Jacksonville, Fla., committed to LSU after listening to overtures from SEC rival Alabama, as well as Georgia, Ohio State, Florida, and Miami, per ESPN.
Hurley has been on the radar of many schools for several years.
This video from 2020 shows Hurley in the eighth grade playing at the junior varsity level. He looks more like a varsity player going against an eighth-grade team.
This is an 8th grader playing JV. Nothing @ColinHurley accomplishes over the next 5 years will surprise me...no limit to what this one can do! pic.twitter.com/c9Ze0ezFcb

The four-star recruit is the third-ranked QB in the Class of 2025, per 247 Sports. He has a strong arm and is a strong runner as well.
Hurley announced in his decision that he will reclassify as a member of the Class of 2024. LSU now has a full cupboard at the QB position.
Next season, Garrett Nussmeier and Walker Howard will compete for the starting role before Hurley joins the competition in 2024. With the depth of the position, he likely won't start right away. By joining the team in 2024 instead of 2025, he'll be able to figure out all the intricacies of a Kelly offense before he may take over.
The learning curve shouldn't take too long for Hurley -- as these throws demonstrate.

In his statement announcing his decision, Hurley expressed his confidence in LSU getting back on top of the college football hierarchy with him on the roster:
"To coach Brian Kelly and the staff at LSU, I want to say, thank you, for the opportunity to graduate a champion and bring a national championship to Baton Rouge!"
