LSU Tigers QB Myles Brennan out for season?

The LSU Tigers are dealing with more than just coronavirus-related issues heading into the halfway point of November.

As Alex Scarborough wrote for ESPN, LSU coach Ed Orgeron told reporters on Wednesday that it appears quarterback Myles Brennan will likely miss the remainder of the season because of the abdominal/hip injury that has left him a spectator since the loss to the Missouri Tigers on Oct. 10.

"It doesn't look like he's going to be back, unless some miraculous thing happens," Orgeron explained while adding that Brennan could require surgery.

Brennan tossed 11 touchdowns with only three interceptions and completed 79 of his 131 passes (60.3%) for 1,112 yards in his three starts this season. Freshman TJ Finley replaced the injured Brennan and notched a pair of throwing scores and a rushing TD in a win over the South Carolina Gamecocks on Oct. 24. Finley struggled against the Auburn Tigers, though, as he went 13-of-24 for 143 yards with no TDs and two interceptions in a 37-point defeat that occurred on Halloween.

On Tuesday, LSU's game against the Alabama Crimson Tide scheduled for Saturday was postponed due to COVID-19 issues within the Tigers. Three other Southeastern Conference games have also been postponed.

"While it is unfortunate to have multiple postponements in the same week, we began the season with the understanding interruptions to the schedule were possible and we have remained focused throughout the season on the health of everyone around our programs," SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said in a prepared statement.

"We must remain vigilant, within our programs and in our communities, to prevent the spread of the virus and to manage activities that contribute to these interruptions."
