P.J. Fleck has added former four-star linebacker Jaxon Howard in the spring transfer window.

Howard confirmed that he's coming home to Minnesota, leaving LSU after just one year as a redshirt freshman.

P.J. Fleck and the Gophers have improved at keeping Minnesota's best football prospects home for college level, with Howard the No. 1 prospect out of the 2023 class in the state.

The Gophers have a commitment from Koi Perich and Emmanuel Karmo, the No. 1 Minnesota recruits in the 2024 and 2025 classes respectively, and also recruited 2022 No. 1 Trey Bixby, albeit he announced this week he's entering the transfer portal.

Howard, a 6'4" edge rusher, is the son of former Vikings defensive lineman Willie Howard.

He played five times for LSU last season, appearing mainly on special teams for the Tigers.

As well as the Gophers, Howard also had offers from the University of California, the University of Washington, Kansas University, and Minnesota's Big Ten rivals Michigan State, Purdue, and Indiana.
