Major Ohio State commitment makes crucial decision about his recruitment that is good news for Buckeye Nation

We are firmly in the dead period of the college football offseason, as the spring transfer portal window has closed and the wave of official visits is quickly approaching.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have done a really good job maximizing their recruiting over the last few months. After a relatively slow start, they have one of the best classes in the nation, ranking third, including second in the Big Ten behind Lincoln Riley and USC.

Kayden Dixon-Wyatt shuts down recruiting

The biggest area where the Buckeyes have had success is at wide receiver. That shouldn't be much of a surprise with Brian Hartline's pedigree and the incredibly successful lineage they have over the last decade plus.

So far in this class, the Buckeyes have four wide receiver commits with five-star Chris Henry Jr. being the crown jewel of the class. They also received a commitment from his teammate Kayden Dixon-Wyatt this past Sunday, nearly a year after Henry gave his. On Friday afternoon, Dixon-Wyatt made it clear that he will be shutting down his recruitment, essentially securing him for the Buckeyes.

It's a relatively big deal for Dixon-Wyatt to shut down his recruitment, especially with what was set to come. Later this month on the 30th, DIxon-Wyatt is set to visit Colombus, but he is also scheduled to visit USC on June sixth and Oregon on June 20th. With his recruitment shutting down, that's a big deal, as either team could have swayed the Mater Dei product.

One thing that was playing in the Buckeyes' favor the entire time was Dixon-Wyatt's teammate in Henry. It makes things a little knowing you are going with your teammate, especially one at the same position. A little element of comfort can do a lot for a recruit.

The Buckeyes are likely done at wide receiver with four recruits at wide receiver, but it's a good haul for the Buckeyes, who will need a fortified wide receiver room.
