The Ohio State Buckeyes are in the middle of an off week now after a 3-0 start to their season. Ohio State took care of business against the Texas Longhorns and that was a tough one to start the season in Columbus. The Buckeyes have looked like what a top-ranked team should over the last two weeks against Grambling State and Ohio. Ohio State’s toughest games this season are projected to be against Penn State and of course Michigan. However, USA Today predicts Ohio State’s first loss comes before either of those games.
“Sept. 27, at Washington. The first road game for an offense still figuring it out. A brutal environment (noise and weather), and dealing with underrated Washington QB Demond Williams Jr.” - USA Today
Ohio State’s first real road test is in Week 4 when they’ll make a trip to the West Coast to play Washington for the first time since they joined the Big Ten. Washington is 2-0 on the season and will play Washington State this weekend, the Huskies have yet to be tested this season. Ohio State’s defense has been lights out through the first few weeks and they’re allowing just 5.3 points per game to go along with 227 total yards. As long as the defense delivers on the road against a mobile quarterback, the Buckeyes will be in good shape.
Ohio State is a -13.5 favorite over Washington on the road currently, according to FanDuel. However, the game could be much closer for the Buckeyes in their first road test of the season. It should be noted that this is the first road start for sophomore QB Julian Sayin and Ohio State’s best running back has been a true freshman, Bo Jackson. The Buckeyes will need both players to come through against Washington.

It would be a real surprise for the Buckeyes to come out of their off week and lay an egg on the road. Ryan Day keys in on preparation and I expect the Buckeyes to look like what a No. 1 team should coming off some rest. Ohio State will have its first 3:30 p.m. kickoff of the season next Saturday when they play the Huskies.
