Another transfer portal announcement marks the 31st player lost in the 2025 cycle for a major SEC college football program.
Players will have one more opportunity to transfer before the 2025 season with the spring window approaching (April 16-25). It's not a surprise to see players choose to do so a bit early, seemingly taking themselves out of spring practice with plans to go elsewhere.
That appears to be the case for Arkansas wide receiver Khafre Brown, a two-time transfer that entered the portal on Wednesday, according to On3s Pete Nakos.
The Razorbacks lead the SEC in transfer portal losses ahead of the spring window.
Brown (6-foot, 185 pounds) began his career at North Carolina after signing with the Tar Heels as an in-state (Charlotte) four-star recruit in the 2019 class.
Brown appeared in 19 games with UNC before transferring to South Florida in 2022. After working his way into the starting lineup in 2023, Brown posted career-highs with 27 catches for 435 yards and five touchdowns.
Arkansas signed Brown as a sixth-year senior in 2024, but injuries plagued his lone year with the program. Brown appeared in just one game, totaling two catches for 42 yards.
Brown now enters the transfer portal for a third time ahead of his seventh season of college football.
Success has been hard to come by for sixth-year head coach Sam Pittman at Arkansas. The Razorbacks have posted a 18-20 combined record over the last three seasons after finishing 9-4 in 2021.
Perhaps the biggest challenge facing the program in 2025 is gaining some continuity within a largely new roster. Beyond the 31 transfer departures, Arkansas has signed 22 players via the transfer portal and brought in 24 high school players in the 2025 cycle.
And more changes could be on the way given the spring transfer window.
Arkansas began spring practice on Monday and will culminate the spring period with the Red-White Game on April 19.
The Razorbacks will open the 2025 season at home against Alabama A&M on Aug. 30.
