Marcel Reed ignites Texas-Texas A&M rivalry

Week 0 of the 2026 college football season has come and gone, meaning that kickoff of Week 1 for some teams is just as close as two days away.

One team that is itching to get back onto the field after a disappointing end to last season is the Texas A&M Aggies. The Aggies' 2025 season ended with a 10-3 loss at home to Miami in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

A&M will certainly be on a revenge tour throughout the season. There's one game in particular quarterback Marcel Reed is looking forward to.

Marcel Reed can't wait to play Texas

Reed was asked about the Aggies Week 13 matchup against the Texas Longhorns, and his answer will certainly have fans from both sides fired up and eagerly awaiting Week 13.

"We don’t like Texas. I don’t like Texas," Reed said via USA Today. "It sucks that we’ve lost to them twice. But they’re coming here this year, so they’re gonna have to pay. I’ve got something for them, for sure."

Marcel Reed has struggled against Texas

The Week 13 matchup this season will mark Reed's third career start against the Longhorns. He'll certainly have to perform much better this season than the first two times to back up the statement he made.

In two starts against Texas, Reed has accumulated just 326 total passing yards with just one touchdown and three interceptions. The lone touchdown for Reed came on the ground rather than through the air.

2026 is a make-or-break season for Texas A&M

This will likely be Reed's last season with the Aggies, meaning that the time to win and make a deep run in the CFP is now.

The Week 13 game against Texas has the potential to have CFP implications and with all of Reed's talk this offseason, he'll have to show up and play some of his best football.
