Miami Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal provided an encouraging update Tuesday on quarterback Carson Beck, telling reporters that the Georgia Bulldogs transfer has been fully cleared after dealing with an elbow injury since last season.
Cristobal said that Beck has been cleared for a couple weeks, per The Athletic’s Matt Baker.
Beck transferred to Miami this offseason in one of the most high-profile moves in college football. A former starter at Georgia, Beck left Athens after losing his starting job late in the 2024 season and sought a fresh start with the Hurricanes.
He was limited during spring practice due to the elbow issue, which sparked concern among fans as the program prepares to replace Cam Ward, who departed for the NFL and was drafted by the Tennessee Titans.

The expectations are high for Beck in Coral Gables. He reportedly received a lucrative NIL package to join the Hurricanes and is viewed as a key piece in Miami’s quest to return to national relevance. Known for his arm talent and experience, Beck brings veteran leadership to a roster that finished 10-3 last season under Cristobal.
With the ACC wide open in 2025, Miami is projected to finish among the top three in the conference and earned a preseason rank of No. 10 from Steven Lassan. Much of that depends on Beck’s health and ability to command the offense from day one.
In Athlon Sports' ACC football predictions, there are reasons for optimism entering 2025.
"Thanks to Cristobal’s outstanding recruiting, Miami has the potential to erase last year’s disappointment with another run at the postseason."
Now with a clean bill of health, Beck is set to lead the Hurricanes into camp with full participation, a major boost for a program hoping to make a serious run in Cristobal’s fourth season.
