As Oregon prepares to face Oklahoma State for its second game of the 2025 season, fans may be surprised that this is the only time these two programs have faced off.  Despite decades of success for both programs, the Ducks and Cowboys have only shared the field once.

  • Single Meeting, in ’08  - The lone clash came in the 2008 Holiday Bowl, where No. 15 Oregon rallied for a 42–31 win over No. 13 Oklahoma State. Quarterback Jeremiah Masoli led the Ducks with three rushing touchdowns and 258 passing yards, while wideout Dez Bryant starred for the Cowboys with 167 receiving yards and a score.
  • Perfect Record -With that victory, Oregon holds a flawless 1–0 record against Oklahoma State. The game remains the only contest between the schools, played on a neutral field in San Diego.
  • Momentum Swing - Oregon trailed 17–7 after the first quarter but outscored the Cowboys 35–14 the rest of the way, showcasing the Ducks’ explosive offense and ability to seize control in big moments.

Seventeen years later, the two programs are finally set to meet again. Oregon and Oklahoma State agreed to a home-and-home series, with the Ducks hosting the Cowboys in 2025 and traveling to Stillwater in 2026.

That Holiday Bowl clash remains Oregon’s only historical marker against Oklahoma State, but the upcoming series promises to add new layers to a matchup that began with fireworks. For the Ducks, it’s a chance to extend a perfect record. For the Cowboys, it’s an opportunity to even the score.
