The Memphis offense was wonderful. It averaged 445 yards and 36 points per game, it was second in the nation in fewest turnovers, and fourth in the nation at controlling the clock.

There was never a major power outage - the two losses came when it scored 44 against Navy and 36 against UTSA.

- Do the Tigers have a quarterback yet? All Seth Henigan did was throw for well over 14,000 yards with 104 touchdowns in a rock-solid consistent four years at the helm.

Brendon Lewis (Nevada) is in his sixth season, having spent his first three years at Colorado, but he only has 28 career touchdown passes. He’s a runner who could add something different to the attack.

True freshman AJ Hill is a big passer with huge upside, and Arrington Maiden will get his chances.

- Leading rusher Mario Anderson is done after a 1,362-yard, 18-touchdown season, and No. 2 man Brandon Thomas is done. Greg Desrosiers averaged over seven yards per carry in a limited role, but the sixth-year senior, who started out at Louisville and went to UMass will get every chance to take over the gig.

Sutton Smith is back after missing almost all of last year hurt, and 222-pound Makari Bodiford will bring some thump to the rotation.

- The receiving corps is starting from close to scratch. Brady Kluse is the lone holdover, but he only caught five passes. Jadon Thompson (Louisville) is a sixth-year senior with 65 career catches, and former Georgia Bulldog CJ Smith (Purdue) is a big option in the slot.

Jerry Cross (Penn State) has the tools, but he didn’t catch a pass in his first two years, and Bryce Anderson is a top JUCO transfer with the upside to grow into a key part of the attack.

- The skill parts will be fine in time, but the line has to come through. Chris Adams isn’t huge, but he’s an athletic veteran left tackle.

Malachi Breland is a 6-5, 340-pound masher at one guard job, and the other three spots are up for grabs between a slew of transfers. Guard Austin Gentle (Harvard) and center Yakiri Walker (Colorado) should be the best of the new
