Mercedes-Benz has withdrawn its motion in bankruptcy court to repossess Shilo Sanders' luxury car.

According to a report by USA TODAY's Brent Schrotenboer. The financial services arm for the German automaker filed a document in court Monday saying they would drop the matter, but didn't cite a reason why. Sanders is trying to discharge more than $11 million in debt, which Mercedes was trying to add onto for an alleged defaulted vehicle.

Deion Sanders said Friday during Colorado's Pro Day that Shilo had fulfilled his financial obligations while acknowledging there was a “disruption in the payments process.” It appears Mercedes agrees with Coach Prime's statement.

The issue came from a court filing last week with Mercedes-Benz Financial Services alleging Shilo Sanders defaulted on the $135,000 vehicle. They asked the federal court for assistance in a repossession effort, wanting to locate where Sanders had the car. Coach Prime openly called the matter 'bulljunk' while addressing reporters on Friday.

Sanders filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy during his first season at Colorado in 2023. According to Schrotenboer, the filing triggered an "automatic stay or hold on debt collection against him by his creditors. Mercedes-Benz asked the court for relief from this stay on April 1 so it could get the car back." Even after filing for bankruptcy, Sanders had continued to make payments on it in 2024 but stopped doing so from December to January, according to the company’s court filing.

The bankruptcy case stems from an alleged assault from 2015 against high school security guard John Darjean, who was given a default judgement of $11.8 million. Sanders looks for a “fresh start in life, free from the oppressive burden of his debts,” according to his attorney.

Sanders has been preparing for the 2025 NFL draft and participated in CU's NFL showcase on Friday. He ran a 4.52 forty-yard dash, but didn't participate in other drills while nursing a shoulder injury.
