The Miami Hurricanes are getting ready for a Week 12 matchup against the NC State Wolfpack. They're 7-2, with losses to the Louisville Cardinals and the SMU Mustangs.
In the most recent College Football Playoff rankings, Miami was given the No. 15 spot and is the highest-ranked ACC team. With hopes of competing for a national championship, junior defensive lineman Rueben Bain Jr. has been one of the team's best players.

On Thursday, the Hurricanes announced that Bain has been named a semifinalist for the Walter Camp Player of the Year award.
"Rueben Bain Jr. has been named a semifinalist for the Walter Camp Player of the Year, honoring the nation’s top college football player," Miami wrote.
He's one of 20 players on the list , joined by other big names such as Ohio State DB Caleb Downs, Oregon QB Dante Moore, Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia, Alabama QB Ty Simspon, and Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love, as a few examples.

As mentioned in Miami's post, the award is given to the nation's top college football player, with Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter taking it home in 2024.
This is Bain's third year with the Hurricanes after committing to them out of high school in the 2023 recruiting cycle. In 31 career games, he has 98 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and 14 sacks.
He will continue his quest to bring home one of college football's most prestigious awards against the Wolfpack. Miami currently has an 88.3% chance of winning according to ESPN's matchup predictor.
With College Football Playoff hopes still very much alive, Bain and the Hurricanes enter the game looking to pick up their eighth win.
