Miami Dealt With Concerning Update on 4-Star Targeted by Big Ten Power

The Miami Hurricanes are racking up major recruiting wins for 2026. Especially landing five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell and on Saturday, former Rutgers linebacker commit Justin Edwards.

But the 'Canes dealt with a concerning update involving one of their high-profile four-star targets remaining out there. Big Ten power USC looks in position to attempt to steer Breck Kolojay over to the Land of Troy.

The IMG Academy star interior offensive lineman was favored to land in Coral Gables by multiple recruiting outlets. Even On3 handed Miami a huge lead. But USC insider for On3 Scott Schrader helped drop this new update Saturday

"As of today, this appears to be a USC vs. Miami battle and Kolojay is not in a hurry to make a decision," Schrader said. "That’s not to say he won’t choose a school in the near future, but his decision on a school could come in December."

Kolojay was also on the USC campus June 17, Schrader added.

This update is still concerning for "The U." Kolojay is being courted by the nation's top-ranked recruiting class in USC. The Trojans already claimed one massive four-star win on Friday -- landing No. 1 New Jersey prospect and edge rusher Luke Wafle

But there's other advantages USC brings in courting Kolojay. USC's '26 class is headlined by his IMG Academy teammate and five-star tackle Keenyi Pope. The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Kolojay also has ties to five-star tight end commit at USC Mark Bowman.

"They both played youth football together in Colorado with USC commit Kannon Smith. We’re told Bowman was the quarterback," Schrader said. He added he roamed the campus with the prized towering weapon Bowman while on his visit.

Kolojay has two prominent connections at USC who can help persuade him to chose the Land of Troy. Miami can help sell a potential powerhouse duo between he and the tackle Cantwell. The Hurricanes are also led by a former offensive lineman in Mario Cristobal -- which can help win over the versatile OL.

But USC remains very much alive in trying to nab Kolojay -- which will hinder Cristobal and the Hurricanes' plans to keep building the trenches. Miami rose to No. 8 in the national recruiting rankings. But holds only one true IOL commit in three-star JJ Sparks.
