Miami Hurricanes make interesting transfer portal addition who is hoping to rekindle old hype after very forgetful 2024 season and transfer

The Miami Hurricanes have been extremely active since the spring transfer portal opened up, targeting talented players on both sides of the football. The staff made an intriguing addition on Tuesday when they landed a commitment from Houston transfer Keionte Scott. While Houston will be next to Scott's name, he is much better known for what he accomplished in three years with the Auburn Tigers

Scott wore a lot of different hats for the Tigers over his three seasons after spending some time at Snow College previously. Having played both outside cornerback and nickel, Scott ended his career with Auburn with 115 total tackles, one interception, 10 pass breakups, and six tackles for loss. Scott also had great moments as a punt returner, averaging over 10 yards per return and a touchdown.

Heading into the 2024 college football season, there was some legitimate hype surrounding Scott. There were several early Day Three grades coming from the NFL, and most expected a huge final year. Things did not go as planned, and Scott was eventually supplanted by younger talent. That caused Scott to return for another year in 2025, and utilize the transfer portal.

The 6-0, 194-pound defensive back opted for the Houston Cougars this past winter, but he was on the move again when the spring portal opened up again. It is uncertain what the reasoning was, but regardless, Scott was left looking for another home. That has led him now to the Miami Hurricanes, a secondary that has completely overturned this offseason.

How Scott fits into that secondary group is going to be interesting to watch. Former Michigan State transfer Charles Brantley is projected to start inside at the nickel, a spot that Scott has mostly played during his college career. It is believed that Scott could spend some time at safety, and attempt to solidify the room.
