Meanwhile, Van Dyke becomes only the ninth Hurricanes' QB to throw five touchdowns or more, joining Williams, D'Eriq King (2020), Stephen Morris (2012), Kyle Wright (2005), Brock Berlin (2004), Ken Dorsey (2000), Steve Walsh (1988) and Bernie Kosar (1984).
Miami trailed Texas A&M 17-7 early in the second quarter but had the lead by halftime. Van Dyke was already red-hot, going 13-of-17 for 235 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions in the first half alone.
The Hurricanes led 21-17 at the break and didn't look back. Van Dyke helped Miami pull away for good with 2:37 left in the fourth, hooking up with Jacolby George for a 64-yard score and his final TD of the night.

After the Hurricanes' character win, Van Dyke admitted to Manny Navarro of The Athletic that last year's team "would have quit."
"We're a totally different team," Van Dyke said. "The leaders stepped up, players stepped up. We held each other accountable the entire offseason, told each other we can't give up big games like this."
Following last week's 38-3 win over Miami-Ohio, the Canes' win Saturday moves them to 2-0. They'll look to win their third in a row to start the year when they host Bethune-Cookman next Saturday..
