Miami looks unstoppable.
It’s 5-0, with four great wins along with the Bethune-Cookman warm-up, and this begins a run of four home games in the next five. This should be the toughest remaining game before finishing off the season at Pitt.
Louisville has the firepower, the lines, and, after a tough 30-27 loss to Virginia, the time to prepare for a chance to make a giant statement in the ACC race.
After this, it gets four of its next five games at home, and even with a loss, there’s a chance it wins out to get to 10-2. But beating Miami would change everything.

The defense has the parts to keep the score low and the high-powered Hurricane attack in check.
The pass rush isn’t quite as strong as it usually is, but the run defense has been terrific and should be able to hold up against the NFL-talent-loaded Miami front five. On the other side, Miller Moss and the passing game have to go off.
Moss hasn’t been bombing away quite as much lately, threw for close to 1,000 yards over the last three games, and he’ll keep pressing the Hurricane secondary that hasn’t been pushed hard since the opener against Notre Dame.
How did Louisville lose to Virginia?
The running game didn’t go anywhere for the second straight week. The Cardinals played with fire in the tough win over Pitt - the pass protection struggled, and the ground game couldn’t bust out anything big.
Virginia also stepped up, Louisville couldn’t run at all, and Moss couldn’t quite pull it off. Miami’s run defense is stuffing everything - Florida State’s attack is the only one to get past 100 yards, and it didn’t go anywhere.
As strong as the Louisville offense will be early on, it won’t be enough.
Miami will be a little rusty early on, but slow and steady will win this race. Carson Beck won’t make any mistakes, and then he’ll get red hot.
The Cardinal offense will start to stall, the Canes will start to pull away, and two late takeaways will seal it.
