Michael Penix Jr. helps No. 25 Washington stun No. 6 Oregon, 37-34

On Saturday night, the No. 25 Washington Huskies pulled off an upset victory over the No. 6 Oregon Ducks, 37-34

A Peyton Henry 43-yard field goal with 51 seconds left in the fourth quarter clinched the win for Washington, but the play of junior quarterback Michael Penix Jr. ed the way for the Huskies' offense.

Despite leading by three at halftime, 13-10, Penix helped bring the Huskies back from behind three separate times in the second half thanks to a handful of big-time plays.

After Oregon retook the lead 1:44 into the second half, Penix orchestrated a 10-play, 65-yard drive, capped off by a three-yard rushing touchdown by Cameron Davis.

Then, later in the third, with the Huskies down again, 24-20, Penix launched a deep pass, hitting wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk in stride for a 76-yard touchdown, putting Washington back up 27-24.

Trailing Oregon 34-27 with 3:54 left in the fourth quarter, Penix came through in the clutch again, connecting with wideout Taj Davis for a 62-yard touchdown to tie the game.

Penix finished 26-of-45, throwing for 408 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

Jalen McMillian led Washington's receiving corp, grabbing eight receptions for 122 yards. Meanwhile, Polk and Davis combined for two scores off four catches for 157 yards.

The win is the Huskies' fourth in a row, improving their record to 8-2. According to ESPN's Stats and Info, it's Washington's first win over a top-10 opponent since 2018, and the Ducks are the highest-ranked opponent the Huskies have defeated since knocking off No. 3 USC in 2009.
