Michigan Football Captain Has Surgery

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- It was a scary scene in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Saturday. During the second half against Ohio State, Michigan RG Zak Zinter was blocking and it appeared that another player rolled up under him and took the senior down.

After the play, Zinter was in apparent pain and teammates were urging the medical staff to come get Zinter. After the medical staff attended to him, they brought a cart out and took Zinter away.

On X (Twitter) late Saturday, Zinter posted a photo saying he underwent surgery and it was a success. Coach Jim Harbaugh is seen being there with Zinter, alongside his mom and dad.

Prior to Zinter posting about the successful surgery, Zinter's mother posted on her Instagram that Zinter was headed into surgery, and prayers were asked. In her post, it said that Zinter broke both his tibia and fibula.

Zinter, a senior, is one of the top offensive linemen in all of college football and arguably the best guard in football. Zinter has received first-round grades and has been in the first round in several mock drafts.

He has been a two-time All-Big Ten member and he has helped anchor the back-to-back Joe Moore Award-winning offensive lines in 2021 and 2022. Assuming Zinter is off to the NFL next season, he has finished his Michigan career 3-0 against rival Ohio State.
