The Wolverines are coming off a huge 45-7 win over Nebraska last weekend, which, so far, is the team’s best win of the year. This weekend, at the halfway point of the regular season, Michigan heads to Minnesota to face the Golden Gophers (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten). Today, Michigan football captain Zak Zinter explained that he expects the crowd to be loud, but the Wolverines will ideally silence Minnesota fans pretty early on.

Michigan football captain is looking to silence Minnesota fans

Nebraska fans packed Memorial Stadium yet again last weekend; however, early on, it was clear that Michigan football was simply the better team in all three stages of the game: offense, defense, and special teams. After starting off pretty rowdy, Husker fans quieted down and headed for the exits.

This weekend, Zak Zinter and the Michigan football offense are looking to do more of the same to Gophers fans.

“It was our first challenge on the road,” Zinter said of the Nebraska game. “It brings another element, you know? You’re fighting the guys across from you, the environment, the weather, the crowd — just brings another element into the game which we embrace and we love.

“I mean, every road game, the environment is gonna be loud,” the Michigan football captain added. “So we’re playing loud music at practice in the indoor, just getting mentally prepared for all the elements and crowd noise, going on silent, whatever is going to come our way. But we go in there with the goal to quiet the crowd down pretty quick.”

Wolverines ready for Week 6 road test in Minneapolis

This Saturday, Michigan football is slated to face Minnesota under the lights for the team’s second road game of the year. While the Gophers undoubtedly have an upset on their minds, Michigan has the opportunity to improve to 6-0 on the year, earning bowl eligibility in the minimum required time (six games) and carrying a perfect record into the team’s Week 7 game against Indiana.
